FAQ
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, helps individuals who are experiencing a wide range of issues. Psychotherapy has been shown to provide symptom relief, increased connection to others, and long-lasting life changes.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Before our first session, I like to schedule a time to speak over the phone to get acquainted and to better understand what you are looking for in therapy. Next, we will set up a time to meet or I will provide referrals to other therapists who may be a better fit for your needs. I recommend arriving about 10 minutes prior to your first appointment to fill out forms.
It is normal to be nervous before your first appointment and I encourage you to explore these feelings in our first meeting.
What happens in a session?
In each session, I ask you to be as open and honest about your emotions, thoughts, and experiences as possible. Together, we will:
- Explore your emotional experiences
- Identify patterns and recurring themes
- Be curious and look at early life experiences and the impact on your life now
- Develop coping strategies
- Discuss your experience of therapy and the process
